The Bernat Softee Cotton Wildflower Collection!

This collection is a dream come true! We have been hoping to be able to bring you exclusive new colors to the Bernat Softee Cotton line of yarn and finally, the day is here.

This new curated box, in collaboration with Yarnspirations.com, is called the Daisy Farm Crafts Wildflower Collection and has twelve beautiful shades of cotton. Six of the shades are exclusive to this box and not for sale anywhere else.

There are two new beautiful shades of pink, named Coral Clay and Dusty Rose, a new shade of purple, Deep Rose, a new shade of green, Moss Green, a new shade of blue, New Blue, and a new neutral shade, Taupe. These six shades join the classic shades in the collection of Cotton (cream), Golden, Sandstone, Soft Plum, Feather Gray, and Dusk Sky.

Bernat Softee Cotton has been a favorite of ours for several years. Some of our most favorite blanket patterns are made with this yarn. It has what I like to call a “giftable” feel to it. It is a cotton blend, washes up incredibly well, and the finished projects are exactly what the young moms are looking for these days.

(Be sure and scroll to the end of this post for more project ideas made with Bernat Softee Cotton that can work very well with this yarn.)

I have worked up a sampler blanket and a sampler dishcloth so you can see the colors in a project. I chose to add the cotton (cream) in between each color in the dishcloth and in the blanket I just worked the colors right next to each other in a rainbow order so you could get a feel for how they coordinate.

For the sampler blanket, I used the Mesh Stitch with a simple single crochet border. (Watch the quick Mesh Stitch tutorial below to learn the single crochet and chain one combo)  I worked 12 rows of each color and made my base chain 34 inches wide. I had plenty of yarn to complete this blanket, and you will have enough leftover to make the dishcloth as well if you buy only one box of yarn (12 skeins).

For the dishcloth, I used the classic shell stitch, alternating one row of each color with one row of cotton (cream). (Cotton is the name of the cream color, which can be confusing because this is a cotton yarn.) If you’d like to learn a simple shell stitch pattern, watch the video below:
