Crochet Ruffle Rows Baby Blanket

Hello crochet friends, Hannah here with a fun new baby girl blanket pattern!

I’ve been seeing a lot of pictures lately of Cottagecore baby girl nurseries that have lots of ruffles and scallops and I thought it would be fun to create an extra frilly baby blanket to match that theme!

This blanket is made with Bernat Softee Baby Cotton, which comes in several beautiful pastel shades. The yarn is exactly the same is regular Bernat Softee Cotton, so you can also use any of those colors for this blanket if you’d like!

With size G/4.00mm hook, chain 118. (Pattern repeat is any even number that is an odd number when divide by 2.)

Row 1: Starting in the 2nd chain from the hook, work 1 SC in each chain. CH 1 and turn.

Row 2: Switch to size H/5.00mm hook. Work 1 SC in the first stitch, then CH 1. *Skip 1 stitch, then work SC, CH 1 in the next stitch. Repeat from * across the row (mesh stitch). After working the last SC, CH 1 and turn.

Rows 3 – 11: SC into SC of previous row, CH 1, skip over chain, SC into the next SC. Repeat from * across the row, ending with 1 SC into the last SC (mesh stitch). CH 1 and turn.

Row 12: Work 1 SL ST into first SC of previous row. *Skip over chain, then work 4 DC into next SC. Skip over chain, then work 1 SL ST into next SC. Repeat from * across the row. CH 1 and turn.

Row 13: Fold the ruffle row down toward the front of your work. Resume working the mesh stitch, inserting your hook into the same spaces that you just worked into when working row 12. (See picture below.)

Rows 14 – 23: Repeat row 3.

Repeat rows 12 – 23 until your blanket measures appx. 28 inches or your desired length. (You should have 11 rows of mesh stitch between each ruffle row, and then end the blanket with 11 rows of mesh stitch.)

Border

Round 1: After working your last row, CH 1 and begin working down the side of your blanket. Work 1 round of mesh stitch around the blanket, working 3 SC in each corner.

Round 2: Slip stitch into starting corner, then skip 1 stitch and work 4 DC into next stitch. *Skip 1 stitch, work 1 SL ST into next stitch, skip 1 stitch, work 4 DC into next stitch. Repeat from * around the blanket. (Do your best to insert your hook into the SC spaces from the previous round instead of the CH 1 spaces.) Slip stitch into starting corner then tie off and weave in ends.
