If you’re looking for a quick and easy scarf to whip up before Christmas, then this pattern is for you!

I’ve had this beautiful red and white marled shade of Red Heart Cotton Breeze since this summer and I wasn’t sure what to use it for until I realized that this yarn looks a lot like a candy cane!

Red Heart Cotton Breeze is a cotton/acrylic blend that is so soft and easy to work with and works up so beautifully for scarves and hats. Since the yarn is so colorful I decided to keep this pattern really simple with a double crochet v-stitch, which is just pairs of double crochets worked into each other.

Here is a quick video of how to work the double crochet v-stitch if you’d like to watch before you get started!
Materials
Red Heart Cotton Breeze (60% acrylic/40% cotton, 155 g/5.5 oz, 440 m/481 yds)
2 skeins Poppy
Size H/5.oomm hook, tapestry needle, scissors
Size
Finished size: 10 in x 84 in
Gauge: 4 in = 14 st and 8 rows of pattern
Stitches
Double Crochet (DC): Yarn over, insert your hook, YO and pull up a loop, YO and pull through first two loops on hook, YO and pull through remaining two loops.
Pattern
Chain 34 (or any even number).
Row 1: In the 4th chain from the hook, work 2 DC. Skip the next chain, *2 DC in the next chain space, skip the next chain. Repeat from * across the row until 2 chains left. Skip 1 chain, then 1 DC into the very last chain. CH 2 and turn. (This will count as your first DC.)
Row 2: Work 2 DC in the space between the second and third DC posts, splitting the pair to form a “V.” *Skip 2 stitches, then work 2 DC in between the next pair of DC from previous row. Repeat from * across row. End row with 1 DC into the top of the turning chain (or work into space the turning chain created if easier). CH 2 and turn.
Repeat row 2 until your scarf measures appx 84 inches or your desired length.
