We’ve been loving the ribbed V-stitch blanket lately—it’s become a bit of an era for us!
This stitch is a fun twist on the classic V-stitch. You still create the familiar “V” shapes using double crochets, but add a layer of texture with front and back post stitches to create the ribbing.
The ribbed texture adds beautiful depth without adding bulk, and one of our favorite parts? No border needed! The edges turn out straight and clean, making it a perfect project for beginners.
We’ve made this stitch using some of our favorite yarns like Bernat Velvet, Bernat Bundle Up, and Bernat Blanket. (Click the names of the yarn to purchase.)
We’ve also had fun putting creative spins on the ribbed V-stitch in other projects. In the Diamond Weave Blanket, we break up the ribbing with rows of regular double crochet V-stitches. This not only adds visual interest but also helps the blanket work up much faster than using ribbing throughout.
Playing with color has been another exciting way to explore this stitch. My sister Cyndi really brought that idea to life in the Mock Weave Throw—she alternated shades to create a woven effect that truly pops. That’s actually where the name comes from!
We also can’t forget Angela’s Wedding Blanket, another beautiful project by Cyndi. For this one, she experimented with combining textures, using a flatter stitch combo of single and double crochets to let the ribbed V-stitches shine. She chose Caron One Pound yarn—an affordable option with tons of color choices.
Here’s a roundup of all our ribbed V-stitch blanket patterns and their variations. Click the name or the button “Blanket Pattern” if shown, below each photo to go straight to the post where they all have a free printable pdf.

If you love our ribbed V-stitch blankets, be sure to check out our classic V-stitch blanket patterns too! These designs offer beautiful texture and are perfect for experimenting with different color combinations. The simplicity of the V-stitch makes it easy to learn, yet it creates such an intricate design.
Our V-stitch blankets have been some of our most-loved patterns over the years, and for good reason—they’re beginner-friendly, work up quickly, and are incredibly versatile. You can make them with stripes, solids, or even gradient yarns for a totally different look every time.
We also love adding creative borders to our V-stitch blankets, which can give each one a unique finish—from simple single crochet edges to more decorative bobbles.
