I’m continuing to experiment with the new Caron Simply Me yarn, which is the perfect choice for hats, headbands, and cozy blankets. Today, I’m sharing a pattern for an easy twist headband that can be completed in about two hours.
From the Yarnspirations website Caron Simply Me is described as:
- Great for fashion projects
- Beautiful color range
- Great stitch definition
- Content: 62% Acrylic, 20% Nylon, 18% Wool
- Ball Size: 200g/7oz, 225 meters/246 yards
- Care: Machine wash and dry
- Gauge: #5 Bulky
It has just a bit of wool that provides the bounce, but this yarn is definitely not itchy. I’ve had an easy time making beautiful projects with it. See the video tutorial below for a quick tutorial. Continue reading for the written pattern and instructions. The free printable will be at the end of the post.

See the chart below:
Tie off with a long tail for sewing the headband twist together. See the diagram below on how to fold the two ends of the headband:
For the twist:
Step 1: Lay the band out and fold in half and slide one side of the band across so one end is matched up to the middle of the other.
Step 2: Fold the right hand side around the back.
Step 3: Fold the left hand side around the front, giving you four layers
Step 4: Sew with the tapestry needle through all four layers.
