Crochet Meadow Flowers Bernat Baby Blanket

It’s been a while since we’ve made a blanket with Bernat Baby Blanket yarn, but as soon as I saw this free Meadow Flowers pattern from Yarnspirations I knew I had to give it a try!

If you’ve been following us for a while you know that we have lots of variations of blankets with flower patterns on our website, but I’d never made a blanket where the flowers pop out like this before so I was excited to try it out! The flowers are crocheted with the blanket (not attached later) so it’s a really fun pattern once you get started!

The original pattern for this blanket is a throw size, but luckily the pattern includes a repeat for the base chain, so I was able to customize it for a baby blanket size and I started with a base chain of 65.

My blanket ended up being 35 x 43 inches and I needed 4 skeins of yarn. (I only needed the 4th skein to finish off the border, so if you wanted to make a slightly larger baby size you would probably only need 4 or 5 skeins.)

The original pattern also calls for regular Bernat Blanket yarn, which is exactly the same as Bernat Baby Blanket yarn, the two yarns just have different shade collections. I love this color that I was able to find in the Bernat Baby Blanket line – it’s called Mellow Mauve. But there are also lots of beautiful shades both on Yarnspirations.com and the Bernat Store on Amazon!

The trickiest part of this pattern was figuring out the flowers, but after the first two sets of flowers I was able to make them without needing to look at the pattern each time. I made a quick YouTube video showing how to work the stitches for the flowers if you’d like to watch before you get started.

As I mentioned above, this is a free pattern on the Yarnspirations website, so all you have to do is follow the link below and click “free download” and a free, printable PDF will pop up.
