Hello friends, Hannah here with a new quick and easy infinity scarf pattern! I’ve been trying to get my house organized before our new baby is expected to arrive at the end of this month, and when I was cleaning out my yarn closet I found these extra shades of Patons Canadiana and thought they would make some great scarves!

As you can see from the picture above, the three scarves that I made are all slightly different sizes because it took me a few tries to get the right hook size so that the scarf wasn’t too stiff and had a nice drape to it.

In the end I found that a size K/6.5mm hook worked best with this particular stitch and yarn, but I would definitely recommend working up a practice swatch before getting started to make sure you like how the tension is turning out.

I used almost exactly 2 skeins of yarn to make one scarf, and it fits fairly snug around my neck (which I wanted since I live in Colorado), but if you want a bigger/looser fitting scarf, you’ll definitely want to get a 3rd skein.

Materials

Patons Canadiana (100% acrylic, 100 g/3.5 oz, 187 m/205 yds)

2 skeins any color

Size K/6.5mm hook, tapestry needle, scissors

Size

Finished size 8 in x 58 in

Gauge 4 in = 14 st and 9 rows of pattern

Stitches

Double Crochet (DC): Yarn over (YO), insert your hook, YO and pull up a loop, YO and pull through first two loops on hook, YO and pull through remaining two loops on hook.

Slip Stitch (SL ST): Insert your hook, YO, pull up a loop and pull directly through loop on hook.

Pattern

Chain 28 (or any even number).

Row 1: In the 4th chain from the hook, work 2 DC. Skip the next chain, *2 DC in the next chain space, skip the next chain. Repeat from * across the row until 2 chains left. Skip 1 chain, then 1 DC into the very last chain. CH 3 and turn. (This will count as your first DC.)

Row 2: Work 2 DC in the space between the second and third DC posts, splitting the pair to form a “V.” *Skip 2 stitches, then work 2 DC in between the next pair of DC from previous row. Repeat from * across row. End row with 1 DC into the top of the turning chain (or work into space the turning chain created if easier). CH 3 and turn.

Repeat row 2 until your scarf measures appx 58 inches, or until you have just enough yarn to slip stitch the two ends together to create an infinity scarf. If it’s easier, you can also tie off and leave yourself an extra long tail that you can use to sew the two ends together.
