This gorgeous Caron Halo Double Ombre Baby Texture blanket is another creation from my sister Cyndi, aka Sugar Joye! She is continuing in her study of crochet and combining stitches to create these beautiful blankets.
When Yarnspirations sent us the new version of Caron Colorama Halo, Cyndi really wanted to try and make an ombre effect blanket as well as combine her favorite texture stitches.

She is using her favorite two-stitch combos again in this Double Ombre Blanket. She is using the Even Moss which is a combination of alternating Half Double Crochet and Slip Stitch, and she is using the front post single crochet stitch.
There is a bit of a learning curve with the front post single crochet stitch, so be sure and make a practice swatch to ensure the sides of the blanket are turning out even for you.
If the FPSC stitches prove to be too challenging, a simple substitution would be to work the front-bottom loop HDC. That would still enable you to have a braided look for several of the rows.

Also, Cyndi loves to use a larger hook than recommended for this type of yarn. She achieves a beautiful drape for the blanket. This is optional however, and you are free to use that hook that you would like to use.
Again, we recommend working a practice swatch so you can determine the appropriate gauge for your own project.
We absolutely love the silky feel of this yarn. It used to be sold in O’go packaging but is now in a cake form. You need 2 balls and on the first ball you will work from the light to the dark, and then join with the dark to work back out to the light color.

Materials
finished blanket size 36 x 48 inches
Caron Colorama Halo (71% Acrylic,18% Nylon,11% Polyester, #5 bulky)

2 balls Rose Frost
8 mm hook, measuring tape, scissors, tapestry needle
Stitches
SINGLE CROCHET (SC): Insert your hook, YO and pull up a loop, YO and pull through two loops on hook.
FRONT POST SINGLE CROCHET (FPSC): Insert your hook into the front post, YO and pull up a loop, YO and pull through two loops on hook.
HALF DOUBLE CROCHET (HDC): YO, insert your hook, YO and pull up a loop, YO and pull through all three loops on hook.
SLIP STITCH (SL ST): Insert your hook, YO, pull up a loop and pull directly through loop on hook.
Pattern
Chain 100. ( Or use any even number and chain to 36 inches)
ROW 1: SC in the second chain from the hook, SC into each chain across the row, CH 1 and turn.
(optional: if you are using a large hook and have loose tension, you may SL ST the first and last stitch of each row, this will make a nice finish and negates the need for a border.)
ROW 2: Work 1 SC into the first stitch, skip next post, 1 FPSC around next post (it’s the second post of the row,) and each post across the row. SC into last stitch of the row. CH 1 and turn.
ROW 3: Work 1 SC into each stitch across the row. CH 1 and turn.
ROW 4-5: Repeat rows 2 and 3
ROW 6-12: SL ST into the first st. *HDC into the next st. SL ST into the next st. Repeat from * across the row. (your last stitch should be a SL ST.) CH 1 and turn. (This stitch sequence is known as Even Moss.)
ROW 13-17: Repeat row 3 and then row 2.
Repeat rows 6 through 17 for the remainder of the blanket.
When you run out of the first ball of yarn, join with the darker shade in the middle of the ball if you want to maintain the ombre effect.
