Teal Hygge Friendship Blanket

Thank to our sponsors Yarnspirations.com who sent us so many colors to play with of their recently acquired brand Red Heart Hygge yarn! If you missed the post from a few days ago, I made the first friendship blanket in Pearl, Powder and Rust.

But I really wanted a cool tone version so I used Aloe, Teal, Snow and Cloud.  Can you tell what is different about this blanket though besides the color? Yup, I inverted the colors. I worked the white in every row where the double crochets look like dots or circles and worked the color in the rows making the oblong shapes.

I also decided to have the colors go from dark to light and back to dark. (This does add a few rows onto the pattern and makes it a longer blanket, but not by much.)

And let me tell you again how much I love Red Heart Hygee yarn. This much! It is the perfect furry yarn to work with and so so snuggly when it’s finished. The baby who cuddles this blanket will feel like they are hugging a stuffed animal.

Here is how you access the free pattern download on Yarnspirations.com. Just click those highlighted words and it will take you right to their page. Then click the button that says “download the pattern.”

I used that exact pattern to make this teal version except I started with Teal, for 3 color changes, then Aloe for 3 color changes, then Cloud for 6 color changes, then back to Aloe, and then finished with Teal.

Everything else is the same. I used a size K hook, and worked single crochet for the border. It’s a very beginner friendly blanket. It uses double crochet and single crochet only. I think you’ll really like it.

Here is a video that shows you how to work the stitches for this blanket!

Thank you again to Yarnspirations.com for sending us the yarn! We’ve loved being sponsored by them for 2019. And now that they have acquired Red Heart Yarns, they really are becoming a one stop website for yarn. We love it!
