I hope when Kate is in her teen years, she will look back at these blog posts and feel my absolute love for her. I’m so grateful that she loves to wear whatever little crochet outfit I make for her and smile. Kate is an almost Halloween baby and this time of year usually is very busy for me making costumes for her and Jack.
This year however, I decided to crochet her a dress for her two-year-old photo shoot. I am going to try and make them trick-or-treating bags instead. even though time is getting short for that, but I have hope to get them done! You’ll know I made it if you see another blog post later this week showing the bags lol!
But back to this adorable little dress I made for her. Earlier in the year Karen, from Babes in the Wool, sent me her latest pattern book called Lovely Little Stitches. I made Nora a baby bonnet, but I knew I wanted to make one of the cute dresses in the book.
I cannot recommend this book enough if you love to make adorable classic crochet clothes for your grandkids. The patterns go up to about size 3 so it is definitely for the newborn to three year old crowd. I just love the extra details that Karen added into the dress pattern around the neck, waist and bottom of the skirt portion.
Her instructions are very easy to follow with a lot of extra helps and explanations. I opted to finish the back of Kate’s dress with a tie instead of a button, but I followed the pattern exactly, subbing Bernat Softee Cotton for the yarn.
Kate is at the age where she loves baby dolls and playing house. She is very much attached to her stuffed animals and dolls. I have a little stroller at my house that she loves to push her babies around in. I also have a shopping cart that she loves too!
Her and Jack come over and we have little tea parties. I love playing with them and buying toys. For her birthday, I couldn’t resist and bought her an American Girl Bitty Baby doll. That brand has the cutest accessories for the doll and I know Kate would love the little high chair.
I also was happy that they had a red head Bitty Baby that looks just like her! We had so much fun watching her play with her baby. She knew what to do right away from feeding her a bottle to changing diapers.
Happy Birthday darling Kate! Grandma will love to crochet for you as long as you want!
All my love! XO, Gram-Gram
