Kate Turned Three!

Baby Kate turned three! And I couldn’t let the occasion pass without crocheting her a little dress. I love making little outfits for her.

I just can’t believe how fast time flies. I’ve been sharing photos of her since she was just teeny tiny and I’m so glad to have them to look back on. She has grown so much in just one year.

Her hair is coming in to be the most beautiful shade of red and she has blue blue eyes. According to the internet, that is the rarest of combinations.

The top part of her dress is worked from a pattern in one of my favorite pattern books by Karen Petry called Lovely Little Stitches. I then free-styled the skirt portion based on my daughter Hannah’s Ruffle Rows baby blanket that she released earlier in the year.

I wanted just a bit of frill for Kate, and I loved that blanket Hannah made.

And if you are curious, the doll house-looking chest she is standing next to I found on Pottery Barn Kids, and it houses the cutest little Maileg Mouse collection that she absolutely loves to play with when she comes to my house.

We make up all sorts of stories about the mice that live in Gram-Gram’s cupboard. It’s a brother and sister mouse that take care of their tiny baby mouse sibling. They only eat cheese and cake, and sometimes they are naughty and escape. But we always find them hiding in the couch pillows! Kate makes sure the mice are all tucked into bed before she leaves Gram-Gram’s house. She turns off the fireplace and the lights. It’s so much fun to play! (She doesn’t know yet, but Grandma Mouse and Grandpa Mouse are coming for Christmas to visit!)

Last year I made her a darling dress from the same Lovely Little Stitches pattern book. It is full of gems and I can’t recommend it enough. It is so easy to read and understand. I love having all the bodice sizing done for me even when I freestyle the skirt portion.

I followed the complete pattern for the green dress, and I absolutely loved how it turned out. You can read more of my review for it in the blog post Baby Kate is Two!

And when she was about to turn one, I made her a sweater based on my Pink Single Crochet Baby sweater pattern that we named Single Crochet Baby Sweater with Daisy Flowers.

And Kate’s most probably known for the Baby Kate’s Crochet Blessing Blanket photo:

Kate

Oh how I love to crochet for my grandbabies! I hope that at least one of these outfits or blankets I’ve made for them travels with them through life, it’s okay if it’s boxed up and put in an attic, I just want a little piece of me to always be with them.

I love you so much baby Kate! xoxo, Gram-Gram

P.S., and thank you, dear crochet friends, for following us along here on the farm! I love to crochet and share what I’m making. If you want to see what other outfits I’ve made for my grands..see our menu heading under Crochet Patterns called “Clothing.”
