Crochet New Home Throw

I had a welcome-to-your-new-home gift to make and I chose to design a new throw pattern using Bernat Future Hope! I love using this new to the market yarn. It is so soft and chenille-like. It’s holding the stitches in place and also not making a blanket this size too heavy. It’s a win in my book!

Bernat Future Hope is 100% recycled polyester. It is one strand of thin chenille. There is no splitting of ply’s with this yarn. Your hook will glide through it easily. I enjoyed using my Susan Bates Comfort Grip hooks to make this blanket. The little point on the end of this hook helped me to pull through all the loops of the cluster rows.

Since the yarn is somewhat thin, I tweaked the regular single crochet stitch to add an extra loop. I write it out in the Stitches section of the pattern and also demonstrate for you in the video tutorial.

The rows of texture are made with cluster stitch and single crochet. They are surrounded by a row of single crochet and chain one worked as the mesh stitch.

The border is made with half double crochet post stitches, which are just the same as double crochet post stitches, just worked as half double crochets.

If all of this sounds confusing, watch the video tutorial for quick demonstrations. It’s linked in the pattern section of this post.

Thank you all for stopping by to check out what we’ve been making! If you need more throw ideas, check out our category heading “Throws.” We have a lot more patterns for you to consider that make great gifts for weddings, graduations, or new homes!

At the very end of this post, you will find the free printable version of the pattern. We like to suggest that you read through the pattern here on the website first to see if it is something you’d like to save. You simply tap the image of the pattern, then it will take you to a different screen where you can print the pdf.

Also at the end of the post, we like to include gift ideas to accompany your blanket. We love giving our crochet away and like to include a little something else to go along. My daughters are so on top of what is trending and they put the lists together on *Amazon.
