Hello crochet friends, Hannah here with another fun blanket pattern made with Bernat Maker!
I love working with Bernat Maker so much that I wanted to make a birthday blanket for baby Nora! I can’t believe she is one years old!
This shade of pink is a perfect fit for her room and the nice chunky texture of this blanket will be perfect for our walks through the rest of this Colorado winter.
I also wanted to pair this blanket with this new picture book that was illustrated by one of our good friends from Arizona! It’s such a sweet and beautiful book and I’m so excited to keep reading it to Nora as she continues to grow.
This blanket uses similar stitches to my Crochet Country Cottage Throw, but in this blanket the stitches are set up in an alternating pattern to make more of a woven look.
Here’s a video tutorial for this blanket if you’d like to watch before you get started!

Pattern
Chain 80 (or any even number).
Row 1: Work 1 HDSS in the 2nd chain from the hook. *Work 1 HDC in the next chain and 1 HDSS in the next chain. Repeat from * to the end of the row. CH 1 and turn.
Row 2: Work 1 Front Bottom Loop HDSS in the first stitch. *Work 1 Wide HDC in the next stitch and 1 Front Bottom Loop HDSS in the next stitch. Repeat from * to the end of the row. CH 1 and turn.
Row 3: Repeat row 2.
Row 4: Work 1 Front Bottom Loop HDSS in each of the first 2 stitches. *Work 1 Wide HDC in the next stitch and 1 Front Bottom Loop HDSS in the next stitch. Repeat from * across the row. End the row with 1 Front Bottom Loop HDSS in each of the last 2 stitches. CH 1 and turn.
Row 5: Repeat row 4.
Repeat rows 2 – 5 until your blanket measures 33 – 34 inches or you reach your desired length. (I worked until I finished my 3rd skein of yarn.)
Border
Side 1: Pull up a loop in corner and CH 5. Starting in the 2nd chain from the hook, work HDSS in each of the 4 chains back toward the edge of the blanket. *Slip stitch into the next unworked space, and slip stitch again in the next space. Turn and work HDSS in each of the 4 HDSS you just made. CH 1 and turn. Work back down and work 4 HDSS. (On the 4th stitch feel free to insert your hook under all three loops of the stitch – you don’t need to dig to find the top two loops.) Repeat from across * the side of the blanket.
Side 2: When you reach the first corner, stop when you get to the top of the border after working stitches up from the corner. (If you need to only work 1 slip stitch instead of 2 in order to stay at the corner, that’s fine.) At the top of the border CH 5. Begin working across the side of the blanket in the same manner as side 1.
Work the rest of the blanket in the same manner as sides 1 and 2. When you finish the border at the starting corner, tie off at the top of the border and weave in ends.
I hope you enjoy making this blanket! Thank you for visiting Daisy Farm Crafts! Happy Crocheting! xo, Hannah
