I hope you were able to see Hannah’s latest baby blanket pattern, which she named Ruffle Rows! It was a solid color design with the daintiest ruffles across one side of the blanket. Adorable and so on trend with cottagecore that is gaining in popularity.
A few weeks ago, as she was making it, she showed me a glimpse and I knew I’d love to try it with multiple colors for a different look. I loved adding in rows of color into the design! I think the color possibilities are endless and I can’t wait to see what you all come up with!
I was able to use three colors that came from our recent Wildflower Box of Bernat Softee Cotton, which we collaborated with Yarnspirations.com on. If you happened to be lucky and grab one before they sold out, I used the colors named: Soft Plum, Deep Rose, and Dusty Rose along with Cotton (cream).
This pattern can be made with any yarn, but we particularly recommend Bernat Softee Cotton if you are making it for a baby to be gifted. It’s a washable cotton blend that is so easy to work with. We love the results we get with this yarn.
You can find all the shades available on the Yarnpirations website or on the Bernat Store on Amazon. Bernat Softee Baby Cotton and Bernat Softee Cotton are the same yarn, just labelled differently, and offer different shades.
Making this blanket adds a bit of extra time at the end with weaving in the ends. I cut the color after each use and then wove them in at the end. It added about an hour of extra time.
The border I chose to use, which was different than Hannah’s original blanket, was two double crochet into each stitch and each row on the sides of the blanket, and three double crochet into each corner. I only worked one round.
I made the same size as her blanket and used the same amount of the Cotton color and one of each of the skeins of color. I had just enough to make the border with the Dusty Rose, but to be safe, get one extra of the color you choose for the border.
Thank you all for the love for this blanket! So many of you have stopped by to get the pattern and I can’t wait to see what variations you make! Be sure and join us in the Daisy Farm Crafters Group on Facebook to see what others are making from our patterns. And definitely tag us @daisyfarmcrafts on Instagram so we can share to our stories. You may not realize it when you share, but you inspire others to learn how to crochet! It’s awesome to see.
