Baby James Turned 2! Bluey Birthday Party

I know a lot of you have been following me along from the very start of my crochet journey when there were no grandkids and now to have a couchful of little ones is just amazing! Hannah came into town to celebrate baby James 2-year-old birthday with the cousins. From left to right in the photo we have James, Nora, Kate and Jack.

James and Nora are my daughter Hannah and her husband Will’s two little kids and Jack and Kate are my son Tanner and his wife Elizabeth’s kids.

These little ones have been the best crochet models any grandma could ask for. It’s always a challenge to get them all to smile at once, but we were so happy to have them all in one place for a brief moment. The little boys have matching Bluey t-shirts, and the little girls are wearing the same color as the little sister Bingo.

When baby Jack turned two, he also was a superfan of the tv show Bluey, just as James is now. So Jack brought his little Bluey that I made him to the party and it was just so cute!

I found the pattern on the official Bluey.tv website. I chose to make it with Bernat Blanket yarn so the Bluey would be really large. I believe the actual pattern is for a small 3-weight yarn.

There are a lot of little parts to make and sew on, but it’s fun to see Bluey take shape. I used an 12 inch cardboard cake board for the top of Bluey’s head, I was able to cut it to the exact size that I needed if you need an idea for when the pattern says to cut out a disc. Everything else in the pattern is fairly straight forward.

For the yarn, I used Bernat Blanket yarn in three shades of blue, and a little bit of yellow and white. Two years ago, they sold shades of blanket yarn labelled as O’go. I just went and looked on the Yarnspirations website and they do still have the three shades of blue available as a clearance shade

I used two of these O’go’s to make sure I had enough of the medium blue shade. I had yellow and white on hand as scraps.

Here’s a photo of Jack when he turned two, he will be four this coming winter.

Thank you all so much for your birthday wishes when I posted about this on our social channels. I really appreciate each one of you for being here and following us along. Summer is winding down and fall will be here before you know it. I can’t wait to get back into the crochet swing of things. We have so many fun blanket patterns to share.

Crochet Sister Chat will be starting back next Wednesday 10 am AZ time, August 21, 2024, live on the Daisy Farm Crafts YouTube channel! Cyndi and I will be sharing our makes, chatting about crochet and other fun stuff, so be sure and join or catch the replay!

See you then!
