Simple Spring Crochet Cotton Dishcloths

3 crochet cotton dishcloths

Hello, Hannah here, with some quick and easy dishcloths made with the amazing Bernat Softee Cotton yarn! Bernat Softee Cotton is a cotton acrylic blend that works up so soft and stretchy and are wonderful to use. I made some textured hot pads a few months ago with this same yarn and my husband and I both love using them.

My mother-in-law’s birthday is coming up this month so I thought I would send her a basket with these dishcloths and some other fun spring things!

Materials

Bernat Softee Cotton (60% cotton, 40% acrylic, 120 g/4.2 oz, 232 m/254 yds)

1 skein Cotton, Feathered Gray or Sandstone (1 skein will make at least 2 dishcloths)

Size H/5.o0mm hook, tapestry needle, scissors

Finished size 9 in x 9.5 in

Stitches

Single Crochet (SC): Insert your hook, yarn over (YO) and pull up a loop, YO and pull through two loops on hook.

Slip Stitch (SL ST): Insert your hook, YO, pull up a loop and pull directly through loop on hook.

Pattern

Chain 35 (or any number.)

ROW 1: Starting in the 2nd chain from the hook, work 1 SC into each chain. CH 1 and turn.

ROW 2: Work 1 SC into the front loops of each stitch across the row. CH 1 and turn.

Repeat row 2 for 35 rows total.

Border

After finishing last SC of final row, CH 4. Starting in the second chain from the hook, work a SC in each of the 3 chains back toward the edge of the dishcloth. Slip stitch into the next space, and in the next space. Turn and work in the back loops of each of the 3 SC you just made. CH 1 and turn. Work back down and SC in the back loops only. (Be careful not to miss the 3rd stitch, it sometimes pulls tight and is hard to see.)

In each corner, only slip stitch once, before turning and working the SC back up to the border edge. Return and slip stitch into the corner space. Turn and work the SC back up to the border edge. (Should slip stitch into corner for total of two times.) Upon returning, slip stitch into next two spaces and continue working as before.

When you reach the corner you started with, work the corner the same as previous corners, but tie off when you are at the top of the border, leaving yourself a long tail. Use the tail to sew the sides of the corners together with a tapestry needle.

Thanks for visiting Daisy Farm Crafts; I hope you enjoy this pattern! xo, Hannah
