Hello there! Happy Spring! If you need a fun crochet project for your little one, I wanted to share this darling Red Heart Sweet Baby Poncho I made for my granddaughter.
This worked up so fast, and it was fun to alternate the shades of pink for a cute look. I made this with Bernat Bundle Up that I had on hand, and unfortunately, they don’t have these colors left in stock. But they do have cream, mint, and yellow in stock and on clearance!

Bernat Bundle Up is a very nice soft yarn that crochets up very nicely. It is like a nice flannel feel yarn. It doesn’t split and mistakes are easy to undo.
Here’s a photo of what the poncho looks like flat. You’ll make the poncho first and then go back to add the collar.
I love that the granny style is still in style right now and so many young moms like it for their babies. I also think you can make this poncho in any yarn that you’d like. It is a versatile pattern.
I couldn’t quite get baby Kate to hold still and get a photo but I did do a little video clip of her:
I also think that all you’d need to do to make it for an older baby or toddler is add more rounds of the granny stitch. The collar opening is quite wide.
Here is a picture of the original pattern so you’ll know which pattern you are going to be looking for:
