Crochet Baby Cow Hat

baby wearing cow hat

Look at this precious baby! My dear friend Francie is an amazing photographer and asked me to see if I could figure out how to make a baby cow hat for her newest grandbaby boy.

I didn’t know if I could do it, but I think it turned out better than I could imagine! I made it as easy as possible using all single crochet.

The key thing that I thought made the hat even cuter was using Red Heart Hygge yarn. It is so close to looking like cow fur.

Here’s a tip about that cow tag that she used: she photoshopped the baby’s information onto the tag as a part of editing the photo instead of writing the information onto the tag.

I thought that was so clever.

Here’s a size chart if you want to make this on your own in a bigger size, the pattern is for a newborn, but if you make your starting band larger, you will estimate the placement of the black ovals.

Essentially they are black ovals on either side of the hat, but maybe make the newborn size first to see what you’d need to do. (Video tutorial at the end of the post can help too.)
