A Gift for Nai Nai – A Picture Book about Crochet!

Hello Friends!

I’m excited to let you know about this new children’s picture book written and illustrated by a fellow crocheter and friend of the Daisy Farm Kim-Hoa Ung! She has written a darling story about a young girl learning how to crochet a hat. It’s called A Gift for Nai Nai.

The hat pattern is included at the back of the book and it turned out just so cute! I only made one modification for the pom poms, I happened to have these Minnie Mouse fur ears that I bought from our recent trip to Disneyland and clipped them onto the hat. In the pattern, there are instructions to make pom poms.

I’m so thrilled to see a children’s book that celebrates crochet. So often crochet is referred to as knitting, or crochet is left out all together and knitting is used in illustrations and books. So, having the illustrations contain an actual crochet hook was so exciting to me!

Kim-Hoa has done a wonderful job with the story and layout. It is a delight to read to little ones. Even my baby Jack who is now three understood the story.

When authors ask me to review their picture books, I love that they make the book out to my grandchildren, I have a nice collection of signed children’s picture books that I absolutely love.

Even the end papers for this book are adorable! Look at all the little hats.

You can see all the other books that we have made blankets to go along with in our menu heading section Blanket Patterns/Books with Blankets.

We love pairing a book with a blanket for gifts whenever we can.

Congratulations Kim-Hoa on your debut book! I wish you lots of success and hope that this little book will teach little ones about crochet for generations to come.

Here is a photo of her and her grandma at the end of the book. Love!
