This is my daughter Annie. Annie loves Michaels Kors. Annie wanted to buy a Michael Kors scarf. (Ahem, $$$) Unfortunately, Annie is only fifteen and unemployed. But she fell in love with one of his scarfs and really wanted one! So, I offered to make her something very similar and now Annie is a very happy girl. And I am a happy mom.
Here is the simple pattern for the (Michael Kors inspired) Crochet Griddle Stitch Scarf.
Materials
Hobby Lobby I Love This Yarn (100% acrylic, 5 oz/252 yds)
1 skein each Navy Blue, Ivory, Orange Spice, Gray
Size J/6.00mm hook, scissors, tapestry needle
Size
Finished size 9 in x 80 in
Stitches
Single Crochet (SC): Insert your hook, yarn over (YO) and pull up a loop, YO and pull through two loops on hook.
Double Crochet (DC): YO, insert your hook, YO and pull up a loop, YO and pull through two loops, YO and pull through remaining two loops on hook.
Pattern
Chain any odd number with Navy. (Leave a long tail to use later to sew the scarf together.) Make it just a little bit shorter than 9 inches long. (It will grow when you do the next row and you want the width to be about 9 inches.)
In the second chain from the hook, work a SC (single crochet-US terms). In the next stitch, work a DC. (Double Crochet). Alternate working SC and DC in each stitch across the whole row ending with a DC.
Chain one and turn. SC into the top of the DC you just made in the row below. Then, DC into the next SC. Alternate the DC and SC across the whole row. Always work a DC into the top of a SC, and work a SC into the top of the DC. Always CH one and turn.
Here is the pattern of the scarf colors:
24 rows of Navy, 24 rows of Ivory, 9 rows of Grey, 7 rows of Ivory, 6 rows of Grey, 24 rows of Orange, 24 rows of Navy, 24 rows of Ivory, 24 rows of Grey, 24 rows of Orange.
With the tail of the starting chain, use the tapestry hook to sew the two ends together to make a circular scarf. Weave in all the ends, and enjoy! You are finished with your crochet griddle stitch scarf!
